This week, we were proud to help soon-to-be pilot Josilyn Burkett celebrate her 16th birthday with a one of a kind ride along in a T34 Mentor aircraft. Josilyn is a high school junior who was just accepted into a Aviation program through her local college. When she graduates high school, she’ll have nearly 30 college credits under her belt and will already have dozens of hours of flying time.
The Burkett family and Castle have been friends for a while! Josilyn’s dad is Maj. Richard Burkett, a combat-wounded U.S. Marine Corps veteran who we’ve had the honor of assisting with compassionate care missions through the Veterans Airlift Command
Her mom, Melissa, happens to be a Marine veteran as well, and we were thrilled to help this wonderful family celebrate their daughter’s birthday and acceptance into the field of aviation.
Congratulations, Josilyn!
